We designed an experiment to find the best mitigation device for albatross. Our work included:

  • preparing an experimental protocol in consultation with other parties
  • grooming data to remove spurious results
  • carrying out data analysis using the R software package

A risk index was calculated for 64 species of New Zealand seabirds, to enable population management decisions to be made. The project involved:

  • pragmatic use of limited available information
  • statistical analysis
